TB-500 is the synthetic form of Thymosin Beta-4, a 43-amino-acid peptide with the molecular formula C212H350N56O78S and a molecular weight of 4,963.4 g/mol. The naturally occurring peptide was first isolated from calf thymus tissue in the 1960s, and TB-500 represents the biologically active region of the full Thymosin Beta-4 sequence.
Thymosin Beta-4 is an unstructured, flexible peptide in solution, meaning it does not adopt a fixed three-dimensional fold like many larger proteins. It contains a central actin-binding domain, a segment of amino acids complementary to actin, one of the most abundant structural proteins in cells.
Supplied as a white to off-white lyophilized powder, TB-500 is water-soluble and should be stored frozen to maintain long-term stability. CAS number 77591-33-4.
